First Look FAQ
There have been TONS of questions about first looks after my last blog. I'd like to take some time to answer the questions I get asked the most!
1. Who should I do a first look with? Answer: Whoever you want! I've had brides do a first look with family, bridesmaids, groomsmen, groom. Whoever is important to you!
Picture this: It's the morning of your wedding, excitement and anticipation fill the air. You've heard about the tradition of not seeing your partner until you walk down the aisle, but you're torn. Should you stick to tradition or create a unique, memorable moment with your loved ones before the ceremony?
The answer is simple: Follow your heart. The first look is all about creating a special moment that resonates with you. Whether it's a heartfelt reveal to your parents, a tender exchange with your bridesmaids, or locking eyes with your soon-to-be-spouse, it's your day, your choice.
2. Where should I do the first look at? No worries! I scout locations prior to the start and choose the best location based on weather and lighting for that day.
The world is your canvas when it comes to choosing the perfect spot for your first look. Imagine a picturesque garden bathed in golden sunlight, a cozy corner of your getting-ready suite, or even a spot that holds sentimental value for you and your partner. As your photographer, I'm here to scout out the ideal location, considering every detail, from weather conditions to lighting, ensuring your moment is nothing short of magical.
3. How do we not see each other before? Logistically, it's best if you both get ready in separate locations. This is a great reason to add a second photographer - they can help me coordinate and get everyone in the right spot, AND capture everyone's reaction!
The art of the first look hinges on surprise and anticipation. To keep the magic alive, it's essential to get ready in separate spaces. This separation not only builds excitement but also ensures that first glance is truly memorable. To make this seamless, consider enlisting a second photographer; they'll assist in orchestrating the perfect moment, capturing the reactions of both you and your partner, ensuring that no emotion goes unnoticed.
4. When should I do a first look? Answer: I spend a lot of time with you, chatting about your day and create a curated wedding day timeline. Everyone's day is unique, so it's best to take it on a case-by-case situation.
Timing is everything when it comes to your wedding day, and the first look is no exception. As your photographer, I invest time in understanding your unique vision. We'll collaborate to create a tailored wedding day timeline that accommodates your desires and ensures a seamless flow of events. Whether it's capturing the soft morning light or the romantic ambiance of twilight, we'll find the perfect moment for your first look, making it a cherished part of your wedding day story.
